The Call To
As a Pastor (but actually regardless of your “position” in your church), I have this recurring fear… not fear in the sense of emotional fear, but a fear of God… a reverence… a knowing in my gut that we must do what is right with God… a nightmare if you will… that week after week, year after year, decade after decade, we show up for Sunday service...
Read and meditate upon the scriptures. Think about what information is included, what it means, and how you can apply it to your life. Be sure to journal your thoughts!
Listen to Steve Hannett, President & Founder of Gospel Mission Network, and Senior Pastor of Abundant Grace for Day 3 teaching devotional.
"I had taken Jesus off the throne of my heart—and I put my son there. I needed to remove my son... out of the center of my universe... that was not easy.
But with the help of the Holy Spirit..." —
Think and journal your answers to the following questions to go deeper into today's scripture and meditation.
What do you think Jesus is teaching in Mark 12:28-31?
What changes do you think will come to your life when we love God fully?
What things do you think are holding you back from loving God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength?
Why do you think surrendering all to Jesus is going to give you rest?
Take out your calendar or think about your schedule in the next month. What practical changes can you make to put Jesus before all things?
Create a new schedule for the next couple of weeks that better reflect putting Jesus first. This may includes a commitment to quiet time, prayer, attending a small group, or even just going for a walk with Jesus.
